Curative Hypnotherapy and how it works.

Introduction

Hi my name is Keith Gullis, welcome.

Before we move on to the post I just wanted to share a little info about me and my back story.

I’ve had a wide variety of jobs prior to becoming a Curative Hypnotherapist, all of which, to a large degree, were customer facing and roles where I was providing a service, whether mechanic, sales rep, Leisure centre management, publican, animal behaviourist or eventually Curative Hypnotherapist, Past Life Regressionist and Energy Healer. All of my job roles have been because of my desire to help people, I always went the extra mile due to my belief that true customer service was providing more than the customer expected, and that kind of applies to the work I do now, I want to make a difference, change people’s lives and not just allow/enable them to feel a little better or to manage.

I have a genuine desire to help people and the best way I see to do that is to Keep It So Simple, this way issues are easy to understand and ultimately dispose of, especially if you see that a negative is actually a positive; in other words there is always something to be learned/gained from what others see as a negative; there is Always a learning opportunity and that is a Positive.

Hypnosis/Hypnotherapy

Hypnosis is just deep relaxation, that moment just before sleep, when your conscious, thinking, mind has/is switching off; you can hear things, but can’t be bothered acknowledging them as they aren’t of concern.  However, if something needed your attention you would rouse yourself and deal with whatever it was.

When the conscious mind drifts away and we are no longer using it for rationalising or thinking our subconscious mind is still doing its job, still keeping us alive – keeping our heart beating, making us blink, regulating our temperature (making us perspire when we are hot and shiver when we are cold) etc  All of your senses are working 24/7, but the subconscious doesn’t ask you if you want it to make you perspire it just does it automatically.

I digress…

So, hypnosis is when your conscious mind is given something to focus on by the hypnotherapist generally a count down with some affirmations that you are becoming more and more relaxed, feeling drowsier and drowsier etc (I stray away from using Hypnotist as that generally brings images of a stage hypnotist using hypnosis for laughs, rather than the serious use of hypnosis in therapy) once the person has fully engrossed their conscious mind on the task they’ve been given the subconscious mind can now be questioned.

All of the while your senses are still working, you can still hear, taste, smell etc but you’re that relaxed you are not focusing your attention on the information being gained by those senses, you’re just engrossed/focused on the task you’ve been given; now your subconscious mind can provide the information responsible for the creation of your issue.

At this point it’s worth noting: – Your subconscious mind holds every piece of information that you have ever gained through your senses; everything you have Seen, Heard, Touched, Tasted or Smelt is stored in your subconscious mind.  You are not consciously aware of all of this information, your conscious mind isn’t able to cope with that amount of information, just look what happens when we try to do two things at once…

By the nature of not being consciously aware of all that information it means that the cause of your issue cannot be in your conscious mind i.e. you cannot know the incident/situation/piece of information responsible, if you did you would rationalise it, understand it and your symptom/issue would disappear. However, it hasn’t which means it is locked in the subconscious.

How I work

Using the above understanding I work to relax you, to facilitate your focusing of your conscious mind and then working with your subconscious to obtain and understand the information responsible for causing your issue/symptom.  All this requires is to trust your intuition, in other words not thinking about or questioning the information that enters your mind when you are in that relaxed state of hypnosis.  It can seem very odd when you have a sense or feeling of something that happened at a time in your life that you haven’t thought about for years, if ever before, suddenly enter your mind, but it will be real, just something that you are not consciously aware of.

Another point worth noting :- The cause of the issue/symptom will not be anything traumatic, it will Not be Armageddon; in the grand scheme of things it will be something so, apparently, insignificant on a conscious level, but, remember, we aren’t dealing with the conscious we are dealing with the subconscious, the reactive part of the brain, the part that doesn’t think it reacts and that means a greater degree of misperception of information.

Because the responsible information is based on a misperception, it’s easy to see how the information was taken, how it was misperceived, and once that is understood an alternative perception can be offered to the subconscious and when the subconscious can see the problem/misperception and can accept the new perception the previous belief/perception no longer exists and if it no longer exists, the issue that was created, based upon that belief, can no longer exist (without a cause you cannot have an outcome) and so it has to start to disappear.

And that, in a nutshell, is a very brief précis of how I work to dispose of Stress, Anxiety, Panic Attacks and Depression.

I’d like to say a huge thank you to Keith for agreeing to collaborate with me on this little mini series, I believe him to be a very gifted man that has the ability to change lives. He is a very kind and gifted man who has definitely taught me a lot and given me back my life and the hope that i had lost through my struggle’s with Anxiety and Depression.

My name is Natalie, I am a 30 something year old wife and mum of two children and one cheeky dachshund called Winston. I am a Mental Health Blogger and aspiring motivational speaker. It was May of 2019 that I decided to set up my website A Work in Progress, to create a blog based primarily on the subject of Mental Health. I chose to call myself and my website A work in Progress because after so many years of trying to seek perfection, living with extreme Anxiety and Depression has really helped me to realise that the something I was looking for simply didn’t exist. No one is perfect nor will they ever be, we continuously evolve and grow through the different experiences we have and the hurdles we encounter, thus making perfect versions of exactly who we are at that time in our lives. The intention with my blog is to inspire other’s and help them through the tough times, whilst drawing awareness to a subject that still does not get enough attention. Over the last few years I myself have struggled with Mental Health illnesses, specifically Anxiety and Depression. I first began writing as a way of helping myself to deal with my illness. It allowed me to express how I felt in detail and in turn allowed me to process my thoughts and figure out how best to manage and deal with them. I hope to spread a little more kindness into a world that doesn’t always feel very kind. I believe it is so important to recognise the colossal impact kind words can have and remove the perception that we should aspire to be like someone else rather than be happy with who we are. I want to share my experiences with others, to show that although tough and a journey that takes time, it is possible to reach the lowest point in your life and come out the other side.
